AI, minus the jargon · Ep 1

What does “AI can run your business” even mean?

A plain-English guide for beginners: what AI really does in a small business, what it doesn’t do, and how to get the busywork off your plate without a tech team.

The short version

  • AI doesn’t run anything on its own.
  • It reads, sorts, drafts, reminds and follows up.
  • You still decide. It does the busywork.

The short answer

When people say AI can run your business, they mean AI can take over a lot of the repetitive work around it: reading email, sorting what matters, drafting replies, reminding you about follow-ups, summarizing meetings and keeping track of numbers. It doesn’t make your decisions, and it shouldn’t act on its own without your say-so.

What AI is good at today

Reading a lot quickly and telling you what matters. Drafting first versions of emails, proposals and posts. Remembering details you’d otherwise lose. Noticing patterns, like a client who has gone quiet or a bill that went up. Doing the same small job every day without getting bored.

What it isn’t good at

Knowing your priorities without being told. Making judgment calls about people and money. Acting safely without guardrails. That’s why the best setups keep you in charge: the AI prepares, you approve.

Why it feels so complicated

Most advice assumes you’ll stitch together a chatbot, an automation tool, a notes app and several logins, then maintain all of it. That’s the part that stops most people.

Where NOVA fits

NOVA puts that work in one place. It connects to your email, calendars, money and files, remembers what matters, prepares the work, and asks before anything is sent. It covers your life outside work too, because your business and your life share the same calendar and the same energy.
